Following a sold-out season at the Perth International Arts Festival earlier this year, this highly-anticipated Sydney season will feature the Australian Premiere of four of Morris’ most celebrated works including his luminous Pacific, A Wooden Tree, Festival Dance, and Whelm. Mark Morris’s work, always performed to live music, is revered for its musicality. Praised for the way it artistically melds song and movement, his dancers burst with joy across the stage as if set alive by the music of Debussy, Hummel, Lou Harrison and Ivor Cutler.
Fuelled by the singular talents of Morris’s 20-strong ensemble and combining the enduring grace of ballet with the electricity of contemporary folk dance, this is a celebration of life’s pleasures and absurdities – a transcendent, unmissable and most importantly, enjoyable evening of dance.
